Sabrina and I have been friends for forever and a half. Six years to be exact! We attended The University of Arizona together and stayed in touch ever since. I was blown away when Marshall called me up and asked if I’d capture the beautiful moment he got down on one knee and asked her to be with him for eternity.
I immediately said yes (spoiler alert: I wasn’t the only one who said yes!) and hopped on a plane to go be there for this amazing moment for a long-time friend. The moment was lovely and blew my expectations out of the water (ha! – get it?). Where had the time gone? It was an honor to be there for one of the biggest moments of their life and an even bigger honor to capture this moment and all of the feelings that were happening within it.
This is why I love being a photographer. We can maneuver through crowded, suburban streets and unpleasant surroundings, to find beautiful, hidden places many have never seen off the beaten path, then create a still memory that gives new life to a seemingly insignificant place. I love allowing couples to look back on these moments and relive it all over again. That’s what photography is all about. I’m lucky enough to have it as my full-time career, make friends with people while they experience these moments, and feel closer to those I already know when my camera gives them their memories in snapshots.
Congratulations Sabrina and Marshall. You’re made for each other!
